(707) 358-3050 - You college kids are living it up, but keep it tidy while you are doing so. Many of times (we have been there), one of your roommates will invite a friend over at the same time as you, and just so happens, each of your friends brings 2 of their friends. Before you know it, everyone in each person's friends circle starts to show up. And nobody is cleaning up after themselves. What to do?
Take charge, be sure to let everyone know that you are happy to have them over, as long as they keep it neat. In a teenager's house, the excitement of freedom from controlling parents causes them to just let loose. But soon, without the a particular set of cleaning habits, the mess can build up, the dirty dishes become a pile around the house and in the sink. If this is something you are familiar with, just know, this is the kind of environment that bacteria thrives in. If you can help it, clean your dishes as soon as your are done with them. Mold grows best in temperature range 77-86 degrees Farenheit, 25-30 degrees Celsius for you metric fellows. These temperature hold much more moisture in the air than cooler temperatures, which helps conduce mold growth. To prevent this, wash your dishes, and clean up your spillages as quickly as you can. Even a glass of water that spills into a dirty carpet can have mold grow from the area if the conditions are prime. Dirty, sweaty clothes, make sure to put them in a laundry basket so as not to spread the germs around. If you have a washer, and are okay with washing clothes at the same time as your roommates, this is the best place to put your clothes until you have a full load. Preventing bacteria from spreading is a smart idea when living in close quarters with a bunch of hooligans. But we get, we know the lifestyle.
